Hunger for Reality, George Verwer – Book Review

George Verwer’s second book, Hunger for Reality, garnered more than 25,000 letters from readers all over the world in the 40 years since its first publication. George personally answered many of these letters, often sending out a further book or booklet. 

The book’s title reflects the urgency of the task. It contains his manifesto for world evangelism, We are Revolutionaries, originally drawn up by twenty-five students in 1961 at the  beginning of Operation Mobilisation. In its original title, Come, Live, Die, George offered the book in memory of two OMers, John Watts and Keith Beckwith, who had a hunger for reality. They were both tragically killed in an auto crash in Poland in 1965 while fulfilling the Great Commission committed to them by the Lord Jesus Christ.
